Hello! My name is Annabel. I am a sixth grader here at Brimhall and I wrote the article below about the artist Norval Morrisseau. I wrote the article because we sixth grade is doing a painting project using the technique he invented. This style is called "woodland art". Learn all about it in this article.
Norval Morrisseau / The copper thunderbird was an Aboriginal Canadian artist. Also known as the "picasso of the north" he created pieces of art representing the stories of his people, the cultural and political disagreements between the native Canadian and European practices, his present problems, and his deep spirituality and mysteriousness. His art is unique because of the bold lines and colors and x-ray vision. Later on, he founded the woodland school of Canadian art.
